ABOUT THE GULCH
The goal of the Gulch is to ensure the long-term preservation and vitality of downtown Helena's economic, cultural, human, and natural assets. Through our programs and services, the Gulch works to keep the downtown area beautiful, vibrant, and enjoyable for locals and tourists alike.
WHY THE GULCH
To be Decided...
Helena created it's first business improvement district in 1986 when a group of business and property owners collabrated with a goal of promoting economic growth in downtown Helena. The Gulch is a 501(c)(6) created by state statute through a resolution by the City of Helena. The Gulch's most recent creation was approved by the City Commission on January 13th, 2020 with Resolution No. 20589.
The organization represents property owners within Helena's legally constituted city district. Revenues to fund the Gulch programs and services are derived from a special assessment on the district's property owners' tax bill. The Gulch creates a visual avenue of support and growth as a catalyst for economic development in the heart of Helena while sharing a vision and voice for the downtown community.
